Development and performance comparison of a modified glazed CPC hybrid solar collector coupled with a bifacial PVT receiver

Innovative concentrating PVT solar collector concepts based on a CPC geometry concept were developed to outperform the asymmetric Solarus CPVT and therefore decrease energy/performance gap between PV/ST collectors. The updated reflector proved be most suitable for CPVTs, where electrical peak efficiency per gross area reached 10.6%, which is +16.5%rel higher than of CPVT. Optical efficiencies ?0 = 62.3% 61.8% 1 2 have been achieved, respectively. A PV module (0.5 m2) combined with an ST system able deliver same overall energy yield as newly (1 requires average +0.02 m2 (at 45 °C), ?0.06 55 °C) ?0.15 65 installed area, wide range latitudes. CPC-PVT increase its competitiveness material cost reduction at time increased efficiency. Nevertheless, composed + technologies decreased significantly.
